On May 3, Amyrlin and I were plotting ideas for the summer and we said, "What if we did all of those things?" My husband had to be in Atlanta for work May 23-26, so we knew that part was set. Our previously planned trip to visit my brother-in-law in Virginia Beach had been changed due to weather (too cold when we planned to go), but we knew we wanted to see him since he had moved. We continued plotting fun things along the way: - Visiting a friend in Harrisburg, PA - Going for a cruise on a friend's ship in Eerie - Actually seeing Mackinaw Island that I had read about - Joining my sister's family at "camp" in Michigan - Mount Rushmore, for an 'educational' add on - Spending time with family in Seattle When we got done we laughed at the absurdity of spending 6 weeks on the road. We agreed it was silly, but the idea had been planted. I casually told my husband about it and to my surprise, he seemed supportive. While a few friends call...
While part of any roadtrip is the thrill of adventure and discovering new places, there is also a certain comfort in revisiting some sites and scenes from prior trips. We're in Atlanta right now, a place where me and my husband often come for work. We spent the day reconnecting after almost 2 weeks apart and taking care of business, in a sense. We started the day off with free hotel breakfast (always a favorite!). Then I set out to visit a local RCQ and do some planning for future events. It went well and a huge shoutout to CardsHQ for being awesome. I look forward to visiting again next time I'm in town. Next down to the airport to return my husband's rental car, followed by lunch at the Dwarf House, original home of Chick-fil-a. We opted to skip the aquarium because even though it's amazing, it's Saturday afternoon in summer and the crowds would be huge. At a price tag of over $50/person not counting fast passes, we decided to invest in ourselves instead and hav...
Day 1 - Demolition Today work commenced with removing all the floors in the house. Goodbye cracked tile, old smelly carpet, peeling vinyl, water stained moldy corners, and the awful uneven bathroom tile that cuts our feet. You won't be missed! While that went on, the amazing Nana did a mini renovation on the backyard at the same time. Missing fence picket replaced. Check! Patio and rug power washed. Check! Metal flower art we found in our neighbor's trash repainted and hung. Check!
