Back home for a bit
Brian here. Back home for a couple weeks to help manage the home remodel project. And pet cats. Mostly petting the cats, honestly.
Act I: The Calm Before the Carpentry
The carpentry/trim contractors were around all day today, and they made good progress on upgrading our single 27" oven into a double 30" pair.
Step one was completed today, they removed the old oven/microwave cabinet since it's not big enough for the new pair. I'm actually surprised at how non-noisy it was. I'm working right on the other side of the wall and was able to handle my business without any trouble at all. Props to them. The dual oven is kind of hilariously large next to the old single, too:
The cats weren't nearly as impressed, so they spent the day upstairs in Bailey's room. They did come out afterwards and spent plenty of time lounging on my computer. Opal says hi! Rune and Jade wanted to go outside and enjoy the sun.
But going outside was a great idea. After work I threw on my swimsuit and went over to the pool where I've been swimming with the kids recently. Prior to my trip to Atlanta and VA I was swimming a mile each day, so I wanted to get back on it.
Act II: Aquatic Ambitions and Plastic Failures
Act II: Aquatic Ambitions and Plastic Failures
I jumped in the water and immediately my earplug let me know that it was too old and wrinkled, and let water straight into my ear. *sigh* Oh well. Kept going and felt great anyway. After about 500 meters I felt like it wasn't enough of a workout so I started sprinting every fourth lap. THAT was definitely enough of a workout. But after another 250 meters my goggles strap joined my earplugs and snapped. I decided the universe was just telling me to be done, so I hopped out and dried off. Only to have my sandal strap break as I was walking across the parking lot. NOT my day.
Act III: Dick's Ex Machina
Fortunately there's a Dick's sporting goods just down the road, so I was able to solve all three problems at the same time. And then got some dinner in me to calm down the hangry vibes.
Epilogue: Mio My, What a Day
So now I'm back home, with a cat curled up in my lap, sipping a cup of Mio, and life is better. Looking forward to rejoining the crew, but in the meantime I'll enjoy the "peace and quiet" haha.
