Daddy joins the trip!

Hi there, Brian here.

My participation on this adventure will be sporadic as I'm mostly traveling back and forth across the country by air while the rest of the family is driving. Yay for work commitments.

Our time here in Virginia Beach has been amazing. Getting to see Brice every day again has been a treat, and going out every evening and doing things with Amyrlin and Troy while Bailey is in the gym is a lot of fun.

The highlight of the last few days, for me, has been watching Amyrlin and Troy tear it up on the go-kart course. After the first day the guy working as a race marshal said that Troy was easily advanced enough to drive the big karts not the kiddie ones. So today we took him up on that, and Troy took a full size kart out and dominated on it. His lap times were impressive, and I don't mean for his age. Watching him scream around the track taking correct race lines was an experience I'll not soon forget.

  On May 3, Amyrlin and I were plotting ideas for the summer and we said, "What if we did all of those things?" My husband had to be in Atlanta for work May 23-26, so we knew that part was set.  Our previously planned trip to visit my brother-in-law in Virginia Beach had been changed due to weather (too cold when we planned to go), but we knew we wanted to see him since he had moved.  We continued plotting fun things along the way:  - Visiting a friend in Harrisburg, PA  - Going for a cruise on a friend's ship in Eerie  - Actually seeing Mackinaw Island that I had read about  - Joining my sister's family at "camp" in Michigan  - Mount Rushmore, for an 'educational' add on  - Spending time with family in Seattle When we got done we laughed at the absurdity of spending 6 weeks on the road. While part of any roadtrip is the thrill of adventure and discovering new places, there is also a certain comfort in revisiting some sites and scenes from prior trips. We're in Atlanta right now, a place where me and my husband often come for work. We spent the day reconnecting after almost 2 weeks apart and taking care of business, in a sense.  We started the day off with free hotel breakfast (always a favorite!). Then I set out to visit a local RCQ and do some planning for future events. It went well and a huge shoutout to CardsHQ for being awesome. I look forward to visiting again next time I'm in town. Next down to the airport to return my husband's rental car, followed by lunch at the Dwarf House, original home of Chick-fil-a. We opted to skip the aquarium because even though it's amazing, it's Saturday afternoon in summer and the crowds would be huge. We did it!

 We're on the road! By some miracle* we actually got all our stuff together and got out the door today. We only drove back to the house once! And that was for a pillow that we probably could have lived without. We're actually off to a bit of a staggered start as my husband is already in Atlanta, and we picked my son up from his last day of school on our way out of town. I'm not sure if that means he started the road trip early (8:00am when I dropped him at school) or late (We left the house at 3:20 to pick him up at 4:00), but either way, we all left town together. The road trip started off at a crawl as we sat in traffic for the first 90ish minutes. We finally made it out of town and put a few miles behind us before stopping in Lindale, TX for some Mexican food. We had a gift card to Posado's , so we took advantage of $9.99 enchilada plate night and had a bunch of delicious freshly made tortillas too.  We're spending our first night at a Quality Inn in Bossier City...
