Another Day in Paradise
Due to my poor choice of hotels, we decided to venture to a laundromat today. We located one a few miles away that boasted a cafe in the laundromat. It sounded more interesting than a normal laundromat, so off we went to check it out. We arrived to find it large, clean, and relatively uncrowded. We loaded up a giant washer, and I (the technologically inept) managed to set up the required laundry app. (Ok, so Bailey helped me with it!) While the washer rolled, we settled in to a table in the cafe and enjoyed chocolate chip pancakes (kids) and an omelette (me). The friendly service and tasty food made the time fly by and the laundry finished in no time. We relocated to some tables near the dryers to await the conclusion of our laundry experience. I managed to get a blog posted while the kids played on their devices. Bailey helped me fold the laundry and we wrapped up our experience.
We had time to peruse a tile store next, and considered some options for new fireplace tile. Amyrlin demanded pink, which thankfully they didn't carry. I searched for silver/metallic, which they also didn't seem to carry. I did find an option that matches the new kitchen backsplash, so it's in contention at least.
After shopping, we returned to the hotel, put away the laundry, and got ready for the evening. Bailey packed her bags for the gym, and I dropped her off for her workout. Then we joined up with Brice and headed onto the base for his softball game.
The fields lush green fields invited us to join in the fun, and we settled in to watch. However, the opposing team only fielded about 4 guys. Everyone wanted to play, so a few guys agreed to swap teams, some folks arrived late, and Brian volunteered to play. I kicked off my shoes, saw in the soft grass, and enjoyed a reliving of their childhood rivalry.
Brice pitched for his team, made some good hits, and clearly served as a leader. Brian's team quickly absorbed him into the lineup providing him a glove and bat and ignoring the fact that his feet sported super-not-athletic loafers. Despite his questionable footwear, he played catcher and second, made some great plays, and caught a nice pop-up for an out. In the last inning, Brice got a hit and raced to first, sliding under Brian's tag head first. Sibling rivalry on display, everyone laughed and cheered. Camaraderie on the field knew no teams, and despite a few questionable calls from the elderly umpire everyone had a blast.

For those of you who know that I love funny bathroom signs, Smokey Bones did not disappoint. It was too good not to include here. So please, when you're out of toilet paper, don't make it weird.

While our tasks were once again mundane, we had a really fun day, and have more in store for the rest of the week.
