Pennsylvania continued!
The unmistakeable smell of bacon awakened us and scrambled eggs, toast, scrapple, fruit, a variety of jellies, and hash browns joined it to complete the breakfast spread. Milk and juices finished out the meal at another beautifully set table. Baldy ensured that we would leave town well fueled for the day. After a quick trip to the gas station to do the same for Big Blue we took some time to load up and reorganize before hitting the road for the 5 hour trip to Erie.
We made it with only a couple of quick potty stops and enjoyed a delicious Mexican dinner at a local restaurant before settling in to our hotel.
For the evening we sailed on the Lettie G Howard where my friend Hank serves as the Mate. He has been talking about his love of tall ships, and this one in particular for years, so at his recommendation we booked the sunset sail. We were treated to absolutely breathtaking views, fun and friendly crew, and the chance to learn a bit about sailing. We all helped raise and lower the sails, learned how to coil the ropes, and expanded our vocabulary with nautical terms. Hank delivered a delightful history of the ship and answered our never ending questions. I can see why he loves it so much and I would encourage anyone in the area to check it out.
We headed back to the hotel for an early-ish night because tomorrow we hare saying goodbye to Pennsylvania and heading to Michigan. There are so many amazing places to visit, so many friends to see, and so many things to learn. Many difficult choices had to be made in the planning of this trip. No matter how much we see and do, I always yearn for more, and I know we'll be back, on a future roadtrip and hope to add in even more things to experience. So for tonight, I'll rest well knowing that the choices we've made so far have been amazing and the experiences will add to a lifetime of incredible memories.
